My Story

My health and fitness journey is pretty cliche. I feel like most people want to look up to someone that is going through what they’re going through. My story doesn’t really have a start. As long as I can remember I’ve always had a passion for fitness and nutrition. Throughout my childhood, vegetables were my favorite snacks, I never loved halloween candy, didn’t crave sweets all the time (beside the very necessary chocolate chip cookies), and was always playing soccer. There’s an article from the Journal of Vocational Behavior that talks about how your likes and interests as a child can have a direct correlation to the career path you ended up choosing, and mine definitely did.

I continued to play soccer throughout all four years of my undergrad degree while studying exercise science at Dakota Wesleyan University. During my time there, my passion to be in the weight room only grew and I looked up to my strength coach tremendously.

Flash forward 5 years, I finally got my Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification and sacrificed my own health and fitness to get it.

I’ve always maintained my weight pretty well, that was until I began studying for the CSCS exam. I had gained around 20-25 pounds in about 1 year. I did not feel good when I looked in the mirror and I was constantly avoiding the scale. I was however a full-time personal trainer and was still working out on a pretty regular basis, but my nutrition is what I let fail.

What made me change my ways was when we were preparing to leave for a vacation to Mexico and I stood on the scale to weigh my bag. That number slapped me in the face. I vowed that the Monday we came back I would get my sh*t together, start tracking my macros and working out more seriously. It’s been a long road and has not been a fast process, but I lost the 20 pounds I gained- this progress took me over 7 months to achieve.

My goal with Gemini Wesley Fitness and sharing my, small but significant, fitness journey is to teach and educate others how they can do the same. No matter where you’re starting and no matter the end goal, I hope to show you guys how you can achieve sustainable results and live a balanced lifestyle.
